A. Faith is the Substance that you should believe in

Hebrews 11:1

1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen

a. Faith is always now. When you replace the word faith with the Word you can say. the Word is now. We believe the substance.

b. You must have something to believe in, and that something to believe in is faith (the Word)

c. It’s the substance of things hoped for. Faith makes what you hoped for substance.

d. Faith (the Word) is the evidence of things not seen. You don’t have to see it in the natural first. The Word tells you it is there, it is the proof.

B. Walking in the Steps of Abraham

Romans 4:12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.

1. Romans 4:17-18 As it is written I have made thee a Father of many nations, even God who quickeneth the dead calleth those things that be not as though they were.

a. What was the Word of God in this case, “I have made thee a father of many nations and “So shall thy seed be”.

b. When you find out what God has promised you understand it’s been spoken by God. You put it in your heart, say it out of your mouth and move in the direction of it.

c. Abraham called those things that be not, which are not as though they were or into being. You must refuse to say different than what God says.

d. Faith without believing having no (corresponding action) or actions of agreement is dead. (James 2:20) I am acting on the Word. My natural actions are faith actions

2. Romans 4:19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about a hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb.

a. Abraham considered not his body, he didn’t consider he was old, he considered what was spoken. He believed the Word of God.

b. We must consider not our circumstances, consider means to look at as more important than what God has spoken.

3. Romans 4:20-21 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

a. He staggered not in unbelief at what God had spoken. Stagger means to doubt. Doubt removes faith. God is a God of his Word. Don’t doubt!

b. When you are strong in faith (the Word) you will not doubt. Being weak in faith (the word) will cause you to doubt

c. Abraham was Fully Persuaded God’s Word is sure, allow the Word to persuade you When you spend time in the Word of God it will persuade you. What does persuade mean? to cause to believe something, after a sustained effort.

d. Walk the steps of faith:

— Believe the Word

— Speak the Word (Call those things that be not as though they were)

— Don’t consider your circumstances

— Stagger Not (Don’t doubt)

— Be Strong in Faith not Weak in Faith

— Be Fully Persuaded
